mixing business with pleasure
For four long days we searched high and low for pretty and unique items at the Atlanta Gift Show... and it was worth every single blister! But don't feel too sorry for us; Walt (aka "Captain Marketeer") made sure we enjoyed some delicious meals while in Atlanta. Bistro Niko is always a must... We love the French inspired menu, especially the mushroom & cheese tarte! We can never order just one! Saturday we were off to the Ritz Carlton downtown. We were lucky enough to secure reservations for that evening's farewell celebration at the old Atlanta Grille. They have closed their doors and will be undergoing an extensive renovation. We cannot wait to see what they do with the space! We know it will be spectacular!!
Inspired by all these yummy suppers, Katie and I decided to be brave and try another recipe from our cookbook. Our friend Sharmon, recently returned from a trip to Paris, encouraged us to try the traditional soufflé au fromage (cheese soufflé). Quite to our surprise, it was a tremendous success! (Although we have to confess we did watch Julia on YouTube & must have read the recipe 35 times). Our only mishap was the aluminum foil collar... We used a bit too much butter and the butter is now burnt on the bottom of Susie's oven. We'll clean that up later.
We paired it with another great French white from Five Points, Commanderie de la Bargemone. It complimented the soufflé and salad perfectly.
Boxes have already started arriving from the show and we can hardly wait to start unpacking! If only our construction was complete...but we are getting closer and closer!
À bientôt! See you soon!
